Crowds Flock to ARM Accredited Engineer Training... and Ask Questions

One of the notable developments to emerge from last week’s ARM® TechCon™ event was the launch of a new certification as part of the ARM Accredited Engineer (AAE) program. ARM offered two days of free training, which “proved a big draw on the opening day of the ARM TechCon exhibition and conference” according to the EE Times. After the training, delegates had the chance to sit a mock test, which provided a flavor of what the real exam would be like. In total about 200 people took part in the free training, and 50 sat the test.

So why were so many people interested?

As highlighted in a previous blog post, ARM has developed the program in response to massive changes taking place in the industry. Watching the keynote presentations from the event, it was obvious to me that ARM will continue to lead this change, working with partners and OEMs to create the architecture for the digital world. Never before has a global and consistent framework for use in evaluating knowledge of the ARM ecosystem been more important.

Enough said.

What about exam preparation?

Although we had an overwhelmingly positive response to the program, many of the questions we were asked related to exam preparation. While there are a number of learning resources available on arm.com, there is still a great demand from potential candidates for exam preparation courses. That’s why ARM is working hard to expand its network of ARM Accreditation Training Partners (AATPs). TechCon 2012 provided a great platform for us to do just that, and as a result a number of new AATPs should emerge in the next few weeks, with exam preparation courses available shortly thereafter. We will post details on the AAE Program Training Providers page, as they become available.

We’ll also be publishing some sample exam questions within the next few weeks, so you can get a feel for what the real exam will be like.
