It’s looking like Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 will be a great week for ARM and the ARM Connected Community. I got a firsthand look at the new multicore LG devices, the latest in augmented reality, and remarkable demonstrations of ARM TrustZone technology. I then learned about Morpho’s collaboration with ARM Mali in GPU computing and discussed the latest Texas Instruments OMAP product offering.LG Mobile Multicore Devices
I caught up Henry Nho from LG Mobile where he showed me the Optimus 3D MAX and the Optimus 4X HD, both based on the ARM Cortex-A9 processor, then discussed the advantages of the Cortex-A9 and its multiprocessing capabilities. LG Mobile was also recognized for their Optimus 4X HD quad-core smartphone when they won Best Phone at MWC 2012.
Metaio Augmented Reality
Thomas Alt, the CEO of Metaio, discussed what it will mean to have Augmented Reality in our daily lives in the future, as well as what the ARM Mali technology advantages are and how to overcome some of the compute and energy consumption challenges in the mobile market.
ARM Secure Mobile Payments with TrustZone
Rob Brown, the Director of Marketing of the Secure Services Division at ARM, showed me the ARM TrustZone demos on display at the ARM booth. This technology is bringing secure mobile payments to the everyday consumer and making it simpler to exchange funds via smartphones with just a few clicks.
