We have just published our wrap up video, which Katie, Loreta and I found was kind of fun to make during the last hours of the last day of the show as everyone else was on their way home! (Loreta was part of the production team along with Stuart Waldron and Scott Sartain)
Alongside the blogs, videos and demos we also saw a good number of ARM Connected Community partner product releases plus a big technology announcement from Mike Muller on ARMv8.
For those of you in the ARM Connected Community that weren’t able to attend the event, the feedback I received from one of the booths was that they had identified more ARM opportunities for business than at the neighbouring ESC Show in San Jose. That just shows how powerful an event for everything ARM-related the ARM TechCon has become. I just found out the dates for ESC by the way, it’s March 26th to 29th 21012 at the usual place. However I did notice that the big building to the right of the front entrance of the McEnery Convention Centre was being demolished when I was over so it won’t quite look the same ever again – I wonder if Nork will try and find me again to give me an update of his journey home and what he thinks of ARM technology in a galaxy far, far away… This year we are again inviting ARM Connected Community partners to participate in our booth at the ARM Connected Community pavilion. To reserve a pod or for additional details, please contact Sean Raman at UBM at email@example.com.
There were a couple of videos that didn’t get highlighted on the event blogs so I’ve added a couple of these into this update.
I chatted with Rich Kapusta about the acquisition by Microsemi of Actel and also about cSoC – the blending of FPGA technology with MCU.
Jeff Chu, one of my colleagues from over the pond, caught up with Kyle Fox to find out more about the Freescale i.MX 6 series of Application Processors.
Just in time for a launch the Monday after ARM TechCon, I chatted with Jake Alamat from Texas Instruments about the Sitara AM335x Microprocessor and BeagleBone product. Also, find out more in Jake’s guest blog.
For those of you who couldn’t make it to the biggest ARM event of the year then never fear, you can still get your hands, ears and eyes on a specially selected subset of presentations and keynotes that were given at the live event, I say specially selected it includes one of mine on using Cortex-M System Design Kit!
I would absolutely recommend joining the Mike Muller keynote on day two where he discusses 2020 in 26 Easy Steps – very entertaining. The full schedule and joining instructions are available at HERE.
Finally, after thinking I’d finished work after we shot the final video clips for the ARM TechCon wrap up I did meet up with Mr. ARM Powered himself, Charbax, a man who seems to have dedicated his life and work to all things ARM. We had a chat about all the ARM Powered devices that he had about his person (and in his bag) during the show – just for a bit of fun here is the interview ….
So that about wraps it up for ARM TechCon for 2011, see you next year!

Andy Frame, CPU Product Manager, ARM, is based in Cambridge and is fanatical about the success of the Cortex-M3 and how it is rapidly becoming the de-facto standard for 32-bit MCU’s. Since joining ARM in 1995, Andy has had a variety of roles from Software Tools Technical Training though to Business Development, joining the CPU product management team about two years ago to look after Cortex-M3.
