Complex Debug & Trace just got easier

The CoreSight™ System Trace Macrocell (STM) is a breakthrough in hardware assisted trace for application developers. Although many embedded platforms have dedicated debug and trace logic available for some time, these aren’t always available or useful when an operating system is running on the platform.

Application developers have had to rely on using standard I/O channels to try to obtain debug and trace information from their systems. Things have just changed...

At ARM Technology Conference 2010 (Techcon) you can see a demonstration of the System Trace Macrocell (STM) with LTTng tools that shows how dedicated trace hardware allows developers to capture trace of the system and the software that’s running on it. Trace is delivered in a clear format using open-source tools and does not compromise standard I/O in any way.

Come to ARM Techcon 2010 at Santa Clara convention Centre to discover more about STM, CoreSight and the new range of benefits that it offers to system and application developers.

Alex Growcoot, CoreSight Product Manager, ARM, Alex has worked at ARM for over ten years as a technical support specialist manager in the tools division of ARM. He has recently taken on the role of product manager for CoreSight: “This is a really exciting development for CoreSight and ARM. As someone with a background in application development and software tools for embedded systems it’s great to see that application developers now have full access to the power of the ARM debug and trace logic.”
