ARM at Computex 2010: ‘Smart’ Devices, Google & Cloud Computing

Some people say, Computex this year in Taipei, Taiwan June 1-5th is going to be awesome. Last year we saw the ARM alliance announced the Laptop 2.0 concept device - smartbook with All-day use, Always On, Always Connected features and lots of OEM/ODM demonstrated their smartbook concepts in front of public and it was a great experience.

Computex is one of the largest computer trade shows in the world and it focuses on the both high and low end-products and components that make up the computers we use on a daily basis. It used to be the show for the local manufacturing firms to show off some of their latest technology to foreign buyers. Now Computex is one of the leading trade shows that caters to every aspect of the computer industry and also combines various consumer based products.

Besides the technology update from the ecosystem partners on Chrome OS and Flash support which demonstrating full internet browsing experiences on consumer-grade products, this year we expect more and more Android based devices at Computex including smartphone, TV/STB, PMP/PND, and also the hottest story at Computex would be Android tablets from many of the top major manufacturers. This year we expect to be able to see lots of ARM-based tablets at the public demo area and private suites showing off the diversity of software, OS and application possibilities this new form factor enables. as well as discussions about the opportunities that arise from, application stores and content.

Here are some of the main topics that you could expect at this year’s Computex conference:
  • Chrome OS and Flash support on ARM Powered devices, makes ARM-based “Smart” category (Smartphone, smartbook, Media Tablet, Smart Top, Smart Media, Smart TV) ready to be a massive success.
